Nolkia "dramatically lower quarterly profits" due to "global economic slowdown that was affecting people's ability to buy new mobile phones". They are not alone: "Motorola, Sony Ericsson and LG Electronics all reporting grim sales figures".

Vodafone "grew revenues by 14.3 per cent" in the quarter, although "[s]tripping out the benefits of currency movements and the benefits of an Indian acquistion Vodafone's revenue actually fell one per cent while service revenue dipped 0.3 per cent." Voice revenue fell, but revenue from data services was up by 30 per cent.
