Non-SMS revenues increase.



"Mobile operators have reported increased revenue from services other than SMS in the first quarter of 2007 when compared with the same period last year", notes The Register. The numbers come from Informa's tracking of 70 operators, which also showed SMS usage still rising: 620bn messages were sent in the quarter, with SMS revenues up 23%.

"The service has proved successful with rich content and high satisfaction among users. However, a limited range of devices has restricted its growth and we do not see that changing".

Free mobile service delayed.




The Guardian: "The planned launch of Britain's first mobile phone service that offers free calls and texts in return for users accepting adverts on their handsets has been delayed for several months."
